Recently, I hosted a brunch and wanted homemade breakfast ideas with a beautiful presentation and delicious taste. This easy strawberry cream cheese French toast was the perfect solution, offering a delightful twist on classic French toast. Making this strawberry cream cheese stuffed French toast doesn't take much extra time. The only additional step is preparing the strawberry cream cheese filling, which consists of one brick of softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of sugar or honey, and 3/4 cup of diced strawberries.
Why is my French toast soggy? This is a common question, here are some great tips to avoid soggy French toast.
Bread Type: Using the wrong type of bread can lead to soggy French toast. Ideally, use thicker slices of bread. Breads like brioche, challah, or Texas toast work well. Or use stale bread, fresh bread can be too moist and absorb too much liquid.
Soaking Time: If you soak the bread in the custard mixture for too long, it can absorb too much liquid and become soggy. Dip the bread just long enough to coat it thoroughly but not so long that it becomes saturated.
Custard Ratio: The ratio of eggs to milk in the custard mixture is crucial. Too much milk can make the mixture too watery. A good ratio is about 1/4 cup of milk for each egg.
Cooking Temperature: Cooking French toast at too low a temperature can cause it to cook slowly allowing the bread to become soggy. Cook at medium-high heat to ensure a crispy outside and a well-cooked inside.
To make this delicious strawberry-filled cream cheese french toast, you will need the following ingredients:
