Simple & Delicious Quiche Recipe

Learn how to make quiche and you've given yourself a simple go-to meal. Quiche is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and is a great way to use up leftover ham, deli meat, vegetables, and cheese. Quiche is a versatile dish with many filling options. I use Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust but you can certainly make homemade pie crust. If you don't have pie crust it's not a problem you can make this quiche crustless.

I used leftover deli salami and sharp cheddar cheese in my quiche, along with a tomato and green onions. You can customize the add-ins as long as you stick to the egg and milk measurements. This recipe is all you'll ever need for quiche.

What is Quiche? Quiche is a French tart made with a mixture of eggs, cream, or milk that forms an egg custard and is baked in a pie crust. Quiche has many filling options. Ham, bacon, sausage, spinach, mushrooms, onions, peppers, fresh tomatoes, whatever you choose.

Note: Pre-cook any raw meat you use, for example, bacon or sausage.

If you don't add 1/2 cup of fresh tomatoes, mushrooms or spinach add 1 1/2 cups of meat.

Do I have to pre-bake the pie crust? Some quiche recipes recommend partially baking the pie crust. Pre-baking the pie crust will prevent a soggy crust. I use store-bought pie crust and have never pre-baked it. The crust is always cooked and golden brown.

How do I know if my quiche is done cooking? Insert a knife in the middle of the quiche, if the knife is clean when it's pulled out it is done. You can also use a food thermometer. A thoroughly cooked quiche should be between 165 to 175 degrees. The quiche will continue to cook while it's cooling. There is also the good old fashion way to make sure your quiche is done. Jiggle the pan a little bit, the mixture should be solid and not move around.

Ingredients

1 refrigerated pie crust

1/4 cup diced onion or green onions

1 cup diced meat ( ham, bacon, pepperoni, sausage, or leftover deli meat ) I used deli salami.

1/2 cup of fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, or spinach

8 eggs

3/4 cup milk

1 cup of shredded, or cubed cheese ( any cheese you like ) I use sharp cheddar.

1/2 teaspoon fresh parsley ( optional

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees

Place the pie crust in a well-greased pie dish.

Spoon meat and any veggies into the pie crust.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, salt, and pepper.

Whisk in cheese, and pour the egg mixture into the pie dish with the meat and veggies.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes on the bottom rack. Using the bottom rack will ensure the bottom of the crust is crisp and golden brown. Cool completely before serving.

I'm sure you will enjoy this recipe, especially with the warm summer months ahead. This is a filling but light dish that is perfect for hot weather. Thank You for stopping by Lia Rose Simply Home!
