DIY Lip Balm for Dry Chapped Lips

DIY- self care- all-natural lip balm- moisturizing diy lip balm for dry chapped lips.

Have you thought about creating self-care items but are concerned about startup expenses or unsure where to begin? This DIY lip balm recipe is budget-friendly and great for beginners.

In this blog post, I'll discuss two inexpensive DIY lip balm recipes. The first uses olive oil, beeswax, and your choice of honey or cocoa powder, eliminating the need for various oils or butter like cocoa butter or shea butter. The second lip balm formula features nourishing coconut oil and hydrating cocoa butter for a nutrient-rich blend.

Making lip balm is incredibly simple with this easy three-ingredient recipe. Initially, I hesitated to dive into DIY self-care products assuming it would be expensive and complicated. Surprisingly, it's more cost-effective than store-bought options, providing a foundation for various recipes. Creating lip balms is straightforward and enjoyable, yielding healthier products for your body while saving money.

Lip balm made with olive oil and beeswax is a natural and moisturizing option for lip care. Olive oil provides hydration, while beeswax offers a protective barrier, preventing moisture loss. This combination can help soothe and nourish dry or chapped lips. Additionally, the blend of these ingredients results in a balm with a smooth texture and a subtle, pleasant scent. Lip balm made with olive oil is not only beneficial for maintaining soft and healthy lips it's inexpensive to make.

Benefits Of Vitamin E In Lip Balm

When used in DIY lip balm, vitamin E offers potential benefits such as moisturizing and nourishing the lips. Its antioxidant properties may help protect the delicate skin on your lips from environmental damage. Additionally, vitamin E can contribute to the longevity of the lip balm by acting as a natural preservative.

Where Can I Purchase Lip Balm Containers?

Consider utilizing old lip balm or chap stick containers when available. If those aren't at hand, empty tubes are an affordable and reusable alternative if you plan on making a large batch. Check out this Amazon link for empty lip balm tubes. https://amzn.to/3RJHRq5 I lean towards small tins; I snagged a pack of 4 at Dollar Tree, making them a cost-effective choice. Here's an Amazon link for tins, you get 12 for $7.99 https://amzn.to/3NTMpsU Tins are simpler to fill, have secure lids, and their compact size fits perfectly in a purse, diaper bag, or backpack, not to mention they're easier to locate.

Do I Have To Purchase Lip Balm Tubes For DIY Lip Balm?

You've probably seen videos of people effortlessly filling empty lip balm tubes, in my experience, it's not always that simple, which is why I prefer small tins. Utilizing a small tin simplifies the process, eliminating the need for a small funnel, and alleviates concerns about the mixture melting a plastic tube. Here are some helpful tips if you're keen on using a tube.

Tips for filling lip balm tubes.

To prevent DIY lip balm mixture from leaking through the tube, or melting the tube ensure your mixture isn't too hot. Additionally, consider chilling the tubes in the fridge for about 30 minutes before filling, as this helps the mixture solidify slightly and reduces the risk of leakage. I learned this the hard way and melted a plastic lip balm container.

Use a Funnel: Use a small funnel to ensure a precise and mess-free pour into the lip balm tubes.

Angle: Tilt the tube slightly while pouring to fill it more smoothly and prevent air pockets.

Use a Pipette or Dropper: Consider using a pipette or dropper for more precision, especially when dealing with a small container.

Check for Air Bubbles: Tap the tube gently on a surface to release any trapped air bubbles in the mixture.
