Canned biscuits and an air fryer bring a tasty donut in five minutes. These air fryer donuts are a perfect go-to for a last-minute treat.

Today Lia Rose Simply Home is bringing you an oldie but goodie. Well, I'm not sure exactly how long air fryer donuts have been floating around the internet but it has been a couple of years since I first noticed them. I recently needed a quick Valentine's Day treat and thought why not? Let's give these air fryer donuts a try. The process is so easy you can make these fun and tasty donuts from start to finish in ten minutes. If you ever need a quick or special treat air fryer donuts with canned biscuits are sure to be a hit. The best thing about these donuts there is no messy frying with cooking oil and clean-up is a breeze.

Use cookie cutters for heart-shaped donuts. You can make the donut into a heart shape or use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to make a heart-shaped center. Speaking of the center of the donut set the centers aside for donut holes.

Kids love to be in the kitchen, and the simplicity of these air fryer donuts is perfect for little hands. My granddaughter had so much fun making and topping these donuts. If you do not have an air fryer it's definitely worth looking into. I love my air fryer it's quick and easy to use with minimal cleanup. With an air fryer you can make your favorite fried food without the messy cooking oil you need to deep fry. Air-frying food is also healthier than deep-frying.

What is an air fryer?

An air fryer is small in size and is a convection oven designed for countertops. An air fryer will deep fry food without using oil. Air fryers have fans that circulate hot air at high speed, producing browning and a crisp layer. Most air fryers also have a reheat option and dehydrate option.

Benefits of cooking in an air fryer

One of the benefits of using an air fryer is its healthier cooking option. Air fryers do not use cooking oils which cut calories by 70-80 percent. Air fryers are safer than deep fryers, they cook faster than an oven and won't heat the kitchen. Clean-up is simple.

Sweeten these delicious air fryer donuts with cinnamon, powdered sugar, or sprinkles. Be sure to coat the donuts with melted butter this step will ensure the topping you choose sticks to the donut. You can certainly frost these donuts with frosting too. I will share a little secret with you, Nutella, topping your air fryer donuts with Nutella is so yummy and a big hit with kids.

Ingredients

1 can of flaky biscuits

4 tbsp melted butter

Toppings

Cinnamon

Sugar

Powdered sugar

Sprinkles

NOTE Use whatever topping you prefer. Be sure to try Nutella.

To make the whole in the middle of the donut I find a children's medicine cup or a soda bottle top work the best. I prefer the medicine cup I think it's a perfect size. Don't forget to save the middle of the donut they make perfect donut holes.

TIP If you are going to use a cookie cutter it's okay to use a rolling pin to spread the biscuit. The biscuit will still raise and be big and fluffy.

Instructions

1. Use a children's medicine cup, soda bottle top, cookie cutter, or whatever you have on hand to press and cut a hole in the center of each biscuit.

2. Apply a small amount of oil or cooking spray to the air fryer basket.

3. Place the biscuits in a single layer in the air fryer.

4. Bake the biscuits at 360 degrees for 4-5 minutes. For the donut holes bake 3 minutes.

5. Brush the donuts with melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar or your preferred topping.
