How to make festive gingerbread scented play-doh.

This delightful Gingerbread Play-Doh, infused with a delightful holiday aroma, serves as an ideal festive activity, stocking filler, or thoughtful gift. When stored in an airtight container or ziplock bag, this homemade Play-Doh retains its quality for several months. To present it as a gift, consider placing the Play-Doh inside a charming mason jar and adorning it with Play-Doh accessories, secured with a festive ribbon. The sweet fragrance of this Play-Doh can entertain your children in the kitchen while you bake, and its all-natural composition ensures peace of mind even if they happen to taste a bit. As Christmas approaches, and the excitement of Santa's arrival builds in kids, these imaginative activities can keep them happily engaged.

Why I Love Homemade Playdoh

Making homemade playdough can be a delightful and rewarding activity for several reasons:

1. Creativity: You can customize the colors and scents to your liking, allowing for endless creative possibilities.

2. Fun for All Ages: It's a fun project that children and adults can enjoy together, promoting bonding and quality time.

3. Sensory Play: Homemade playdough provides a tactile sensory experience, helping with fine motor skills and sensory exploration.

4. Cost-Effective: It's often more cost-effective than buying commercial playdough, and you can make larger quantities.

5. Safe and Non-Toxic: Homemade playdough recipes typically use edible ingredients, making it safer for young children who might put it in their mouths.

6. Learning Experience: Kids can learn basic chemistry and math concepts while measuring and mixing ingredients.

7. Aromatherapy: Adding scents like vanilla or lavender can provide a calming or invigorating sensory experience.

8. Eco-Friendly: You can reduce waste by reusing containers and avoiding single-use packaging.

9. Customization: You can adjust the texture and consistency to suit your preferences, whether you want it softer or firmer.

10. Sustainable: Making your own playdough reduces the need for buying and disposing of store-bought containers, making it an eco-friendly choice.

Overall, making homemade playdough offers a combination of creativity, learning, sensory play, and family fun that many people find appealing.

Ingredients

1 cup flour

¼ cup salt

cup of boiling water

1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

2 teaspoons cinnamon

2 teaspoons ground ginger

2 teaspoons of allspice or nutmeg ( both work fine use what you have on hand )

NOTE- any of the spices above can be substituted. If you don’t have ground cloves use 4 teaspoons of cinnamon or another spice. Kids can make this recipe but use caution the mixture is hot at first because of the boiling water.

Boil water.

Add vegetable oil to the water.

Slowly add the water to the dry mixture while mixing.
