Whip up some simple and delicious compound butter with essential pantry ingredients. Parmesan garlic butter, herb butter, and brown sugar with cinnamon butter are the top three compound butter recipes on the blog.

Butter makes everything taste better. Have you had flavored butter? Today's post on homemade flavored butter makes you in for a treat. Look at all that deliciousness in this herb butter, spread on a slice of toasted sourdough.

Fun Fact Flavored butter is also known as compound butter. Compound butter is used to enhance the flavor of certain dishes.

These flavored butter recipes come just in time for the holidays. Add flavor to just about any dish. I enjoy green beans and steak topped with parmesan garlic butter, or garlic herb butter. Spruce up those Thanksgiving mashed potatoes with parmesan garlic butter and be sure to add extra butter to your Thanksgiving table setting. Brown sugar cinnamon butter or honey butter spread on a slice of warm homemade bread is DELICIOUS! Brown sugar butter or cinnamon butter can replace syrup on toast and waffles.

Flavored butter is perfect for gift-giving. A jar of flavored butter and a loaf of homemade bread are meaningful gifts anyone would love to receive. Homemade gifts are a thoughtful way to let someone know how special they are. By taking the time to make something for someone whether it's a craft, DIY self-care, or baking you are showing them how much you care. My easy homemade bread recipe is linked below!

Let's Get Started

Use softened room-temperature butter.

Finely chop the herbs this will easily distribute the herbs throughout the butter.

If you don't have fresh herbs you can certainly use dried herbs. The recipe calls for 1/4 cup of fresh herbs, If you are using dried herbs use 4 tablespoons of herbs total.

If you are using unsalted butter add 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Store flavored butter in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four weeks.

Can you freeze flavored butter? Yes, you can freeze compound butter. Place the butter in a freezer bag or freezer-safe container for up to nine months. When freezing sticks of butter keep them in the original carton and place them inside a freezer bag. I strongly recommend freezing butter in the original packaging so you have the sell-by date. To thaw frozen butter place it in the fridge overnight or for eight hours.
